Is insomnia dangerous?

Insomnia impairs quality of life and negatively affects patients' cognitive functioning. You should also be aware that it increases the risk of developing mood disorders, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders or psychiatric disorders. In addition, insomnia can cause accidents on the road and in the workplace. It is therefore advisable to seek medical advice and treatment if it occurs. Cognitive-behavioural therapy and pharmacotherapy are primarily used to treat insomnia.
